Remembering Grandpa

On June 16 another amazing man was added to the heavenly choir...Todd's grandpa went to be with Christ after 89 years. There is too much to say about this man so here are a few words that would sum it all up...

  • Husband
  • Father
  • Grandfather
  • Great Grandfather
  • Man of God
  • Farmer
  • Handyman
  • Mischeivious (which was passed onto his sons)
  • Caring
  • Storyteller

In honor of Grandpa I wanted to get all of his grandchildren and great-grandchilden together to take a picture with his tractor...

Father's Day

We have had an extremely busy couple of weeks so I will be playing catch up on my posts to get everything updated...

I can't say it enough...I Love, Love, Love my boys!!! My heart melts whenever I see Andrew get so excited when Todd comes home or whenever I hear them giggling together. In honor of Father's Day, Andrew gave Daddy a golf themed gift. Todd is not a golfer, however he does enjoy disc golf and miniature golf. So we picked out two new discs and because of a great find and coupon from Living Social I was able to get 4 passes to a local miniature golf course for free.

Helping Daddy open his gift

Even though Andrew cant participate directly he will enjoy being outdoors with Daddy as he plays (we truly are an outdoor loving family). I will post pictures of these adventures once they happen.

Love my Daddy like crazy!!!

Grandma's 80th Birthday

This weekend we had the opportunity to celebrate Todd's Grandma's 80th birthday. In total this family has grown from 2 to 61...12 kids, 33 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren (these numbers include all spouses). Spread across Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, and Washington.

It was an amazing time getting to see family members that we don't get to see very often.

Our 5th Anniversary

Five years ago (on Saturday) I married my best friend and high school sweetheart. We have been through so much together over the last years (totaling 11 1/2 if you count the years that we dated), I put the emphasis on together as we have been side by side in this marriage the entire time. We strive to keep God at the center of our marriage knowing that He will bind us together and only strengthen our relationship.

During our years together but more importantly in the many to come I strive to be a wife that measures up to the wife described in Proverbs 31. "...Her husband can trust her and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life." (v11-12)  "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." (v25)  "When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness" (v26)

It was not only our 5 year anniversary but also the day that our little guy turned 6 months old, so to celebrate we traveled a little to visit a zoo that we have always enjoyed going to. (We have always enjoyed going to zoos so this was not a choice made just for Andrew). Here are some photos from our celebration trip...

Andrew's attention was caught by anything that was really active.
Here he is watching the orangutangs swinging in their trees.

His preferred mode of transportation that day.
Have to be able to see everything.

Watching those silly penguins swimming.

Picnic in the back of the van for lunch.
So much more fun and memories than buying food from the park vendors

Family Pictures

I wanted to take some family pictures once Andrew was six months old and it was actually accomplished...amazing!!!

When I first saw the outfit Andrew has on, I pictured him sitting on railroad tracks so that is what I wanted to do as a setting for these pictures. Here are some of my favorites from the morning.

Amazingly no a single rock went into his mouth. We finished just in time, as there is a train approaching behind Todd.

6 Months Old

It is crazy to think that our little guy is six months old, amazing how time flies. Everyday there are new accomplishments and new adventures for him, we are so blessed to be able to watch him grow and learn.

Some of Andrew's new accomplishments include...

- At the beginning of the month he started sitting up all by himself for long stretches of time

- Gets around by rolling like a log. He can make very fast progress across the house by doing this.
- Favorite toys include anything small that he can hold in his hands (weebles and cars for example), books, and paper...especially paper
- Sleeps great at night in his bed. Usually going to bed between 7:00 and 8:00, only crying for less than 5 minutes on an average night.
- Every night he gets solid food for supper. Started with cereal (both oatmeal and rice) and recently moved onto sweet potatoes. He loves them all and often we can't get the food to him soon enough.

- Still loves his baths and hates it when you take him out to dry him off. Daddy rarely gets away dry.
- Weighs about 19 pounds and is wearing 9 month clothes
